Rev. Dr. Bob Stelter
Pastor Stelter has served Faith Lutheran Church of Knoxville since September of 2000. During his term, the congregation has experienced growth in membership, programs and staff.
Since his arrival he has initiated following programs: support of missionaries in Mexico City and Africa; Stephen Ministry; Via de Cristo spiritual renewal ministry; prison ministry; youth breakfasts; Wednesday evening fellowship, education and worship; expanded confirmation; ministry support of Knoxville Adaptive Education Center; and the building expansion.
Also during his term the following have been developed and written: policy manual; membership handbook; a new constitution and by-laws; nursery guidelines; fundraising guidelines; employment guidelines an a personnel manual.
Pastor Stelter holds two doctorate degrees, a Doctor of Ministry (1996) from the Graduate Theological foundation at Notre Dame and a Doctor of Theology (1998) from Slidell Baptist Seminary, with studies at New Orleans Seminary in Atlanta and Columbia Presbyterian Seminary. He also has advanced standing in Clinical Pastoral Education (1987) and is a certified counselor. He has extensive background in chemical addictions and recovery, mental health, youth ministry and outdoor ministry. He attended seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, graduating in 1987. His undergraduate work was at Texas Lutheran College,graduating in 1981.
Pastor Stelter has a history of growing congregations. His first parish, Peace Lutheran Church in Rosenberg, Texas experienced a doubling of membership. His second congregation, All Saints Lutheran Church in Lilburn, Georgia, tripled membership and doubled the budget.
Pastor Stelter has one daughter Callie
His vision for Faith Lutheran Church includes continued growth, both numerical and spiritual. This vision includes the expansion of facilities to enable such growth in ministries and mission.
