Our name “Lutheran” comes from Martin Luther who was instrumental in the beginning of the Protestant Reformation of the Church 500 years ago in Europe. Luther questioned the teachings of the Church in his day, insisting that we are saved by God’s grace, not by our works or goodness. We still hold to his belief that we are sinners saved by grace.

The cornerstone of the Lutheran expression of the Christian faith is the belief that salvation comes only through the grace of God. We teach that all persons are sinners and that a person is saved only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

As Lutherans, we are not an “easy answer church.” We won’t tell you how to vote or what to do regarding birth control or human sexuality. We live not according to a formula of do’s and don’ts. Instead, we live in the freedom of Christian love, community and responsibility.

We are a Lutheran church and a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
